Why do I see this list?
We believe it's important to recognize those companies who take active steps to
improve your privacy. If you are in the market for buying, leasing, or trading a vehicle, hopefully you will
consider giving them your business.
What do you mean by "let us advocate for you"?
Our experience is that dealerships become more aware of the importance of
privacy and are more likely to take more robust actions when their customers tell them to. We encourage you to
call yourself, but this is a low-hassle option for you that potentially can improve not just your privacy but
the privacy of other customers. You are given this option also if you check a specific VIN and we have no data
deletion history for it.
How do you know my ZIP code?
Most websites, including this one, detect your IP address from which we infer your
possible ZIP code, City, State, and Nation. IP addresses provide non-precise location (as opposed to, for
instance, GPS), hence the ZIP code you see may not be your correct ZIP code (you can change it). In an
abundance of caution, we do not store your full IP address in our database. This is an uncommon measure, but
as a privacy-tech company it is important for us to go the extra mile.

Why is my dealership not mentioned?
Is my data at risk? It does not necessarily mean your data was not deleted and
leaked - however - if your dealership is not using Privacy4Cars either they don't have a process to delete
data of consumers like you or they rely on generic checkboxes and their personnel's best effort to delete
data. Unfortunately, our studies show that more than 4 out of 5 cars are resold with consumer data in them. Be
aware that while two-thirds of dealerships tell consumers they have a rigorous process to delete their data, 9
out of 10 consumers can find other people's data simply test-driving one or two random vehicles on their lot.
